Another Mallett boy has made the marriage committment to his lovely girl! Saturday 17th March saw the beautiful wedding of Ruth and Doug unfold from 4:30pm in Launceston. The church service was held in the Church of the Apostles, and was a relatively short Catholic service. All details were lovely - from the intricate carvings and glass windows of the church, to the different coloured dresses of the bridesmaids, to the full dress uniforms of the military boys - to the bride herself!
The boys before the service - groom on the right hand side looking anything but nervous!

While the bridal couple went and had photos taken in City Park, the rest of us went to various drinking establishments around Launceston for a drink. Eleanor and I managed to drink an entire bottle of champagne before the reception!
The reception was held at the old Post Office in Launceston, a beautiful old building with ornate ceiling and sunken floor. With goldfish swimming in vases as table decorations, and methuselahs of Penfolds wine as edible (or drinkable!) table decoration, the night was spent eating, drinking, dancing and chasing fish! At 12:30 the bride and groom left, we packed up the fish and caught a few hours sleep before getting ready for the aftermath BBQ!
On the Sunday, Marg hosted a BBQ at her home for those wedding guests who wanted to spend some more casual time with the bridal couple. We wanted Marg to enjoy it too and mingle with the new in-laws so we were kept busy with food and other necessary preparations. Everyone else had a nice time, relaxing in the Tasmanian sun on a very pleasant and warm afternoon. Let's just say our beer at the end of the day was very well deserved!
Thankfully, Monday was our relaxing day of the long weekend. Together with Marg, we made a foodie tour of Tassie with a road trip to the Belgian chocolate factory, Ashgrove cheeses, the Raspberry farm and then a Salmon farm. All very enjoyable.
So, the next Mallett wedding will be ours!!!!
