Wycheproof to Greenock - 2nd August
A massive day's driving today - so we are exhausted now. We're holed up at the recreation reserve in the tiny town of Greenock in the Barossa Valley, which is quite beautiful. This is a great free camping site (well, gold coin donation) although at the moment it is quite windy and still cold. Hopefully it will all be nicer in the morningWe didn't have the best sleep last night with the odd truck going past, drunk locals walking home from the pub after closing and the cleaning contractor who came to clean the park's toilets at some very early hour this morning. But the day had to start, so we put the heater on to warm up before breakfast. We were on the road after 9ish and had to battle the wind across very flat, very ordinary plains almost straight away. Morning tea was in Walpeup which was well set up for caravans! Lunch was at Pinaroo after crossing the State border (and not being checked for fruit and vegetables!) and still the wind blew. The scenery finally got pretty as we got closer to the Barossa! Must be all the grape vines! It was getting dark as we pulled into Greenock, 571 kilometres driven since Wycheproof. Dinner and bed is now in order!
