Greenock to Port Augusta - Monday 3rd August
After terrible wind and rain all night, the day dawned reasonably fine. The cricket ground where we are camped is quite cute, although it's no Hume and Hovell! We had breakfast, paid our gold coin donation and did a reconnaisance to determine where I could turn around. We were on the road before 10 for the 275 km drive to Port Augusta. We travelled through vineyards, rolling hills and farms before stopping in Crystal Brook for morning tea. Onto the highway after that, for the easy drive up to Port Augusta. We headed into our "usual" caravan park (this is now the 3rd time we have stayed here) and set up before going into the city centre for some lunch, and a trip to the ARB agent. After coffees in the sunshine of our van, while continuing attempts to fix our satphone, we had showers (lovely and hot - and as long as we want on mains water!) before heading out for dinner. We were catching up with Greg's cousin Belinda and her husband Miles. They were building a new house when we saw them here last year so we were invited around to see the end result. Belinda had cooked a spectacular dinner and we enjoyed a good catch up for many hours before realising it was a work night for them, so we said our thanks and left. A lovely end to our day.
